TOWN OF VIENNA TOWN MEETING MINUTES

June 13th 2023

PRESENT:  Town Clerk Beth Bunce, Supervisor Mike Davis, Councilman Darrin Smith, Councilwoman Gail Whitham, Councilman Jason Spellicy, Councilman Jason Lamb

CALL TO ORDER:

Supervisor Davis called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. Pledge of Allegiance.

Personnel:

A motion was entertained by Councilman Spellicy and seconded by Councilman Smith to appoint Phil Amway as the Town of Vienna Sole Assessor effective July 1st.

Motion carried.

BroadBand:

One company bid on three of the six areas of the town that need broadband.

There were not a lot of houses in the other areas that were not bid on. The areas that were bid on were Elpis Rd to Marsh Rd almost to Preston Hill Rd, all of Schwartz Rd, and Whiskey Island Rd. They bid $226,761 for all three bids. The Town of Vienna’s buy-in for this project is 20% which is $45,352. The County would pay 80% which is

$181,409. This money would come from ARPA money. The Town is going to try to get the company to do more roads. There are 232 houses in the Town that do not have broadband and this will get 132 houses handled leaving 100 houses without. Try to use ARPA money to get broadband for the rest of the Town.

A motion was entertained by Supervisor Davis and seconded by Councilwoman Whtiham that the Town will contribute 20% ($45,352) of the cost of broadband installation for Elpis Road, Whiskey Island Road, and Schwartz Road and the County will pay 80% of the cost ($181,409) not to exceed $226,761. Motion carried.
