TOWN OF VIENNA EMERGENCY TOWN MEETING MINUTES
August 11, 2023
PRESENT: Supervisor Michael M. Davis Sr., Councilman Jason C. Lamb, Councilman Jason Spellicy, Deputy Town Clerk Kathy Pavelock
Absent: Councilman Darrin Smith One vacancy
There was one resident, Brianne Hand in attendance.
CALL TO ORDER:
Supervisor Davis called the meeting to order at 8:35 AM with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Supervisor Davis explained that the Town Clerk Beth Bunce has tendered her resignation. The board must now move forward and appoint someone in her place. We have talked with recently retired general clerk, Patti Cook and she has agreed to be appointed as Town Clerk to the end of 2023 with the assistance of the current Deputy Clerks Kathy Pavelock and Latitisa Vanderworken.
Councilman Spellicy commented that normally the board would take 2-3 weeks to advertise and interview potential candidates. In the case of the Town Clerk it is critical that we move forward as soon as possible. We are fortunate to have two deputy clerks who are willing to stay on and assist with the situation. As a tenured employee of the town, Patti Cook is familiar with the town processes.
Councilman Spellicy made a motion to appoint Patti Cook as Town Clerk effective August 14, 2023 through December 31, 2023. Motion was seconded by Councilman Lamb. Poll Vote:
Councilman Jason Lamb Aye Councilman Jason Spellicy Aye Councilman Darrin Smith Absent Vacancy Absent
Supervisor Michael Davis Aye
Motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Supervisor Davis asked if Brianne Hand had any comments. Ms. Hand asked if she could be allowed to repaint the Town of Vienna sign outside the town hall. Supervisor Davis stated that she could do so. He explained that we have plans to replace the sign with a digital sign however this will most likely not be worked on until the Spring of 2024. Brianne will request that the town purchase the paint.
Supervisor Davis also stated that since Brianne and Dean are concerned with the state of the town website, he is happy to report that the new website is 75% complete. Extensive testing is currently being done. You will find the new site much better organized and searchable.
A motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Lamb and seconded by Councilman Spellicy. All in favor. Motion carried at 8:43 AM.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kathy M. Pavelock/s/ Deputy Town Clerk
