Law 1 of 2016 – Separation of Taxes from Town Clerk

TOWN OF VIENNA LOCAL LAW # 1 of 2016

Title:

Local Law to create the position of Tax Collector and separate tax collection from the office of the Town Clerk.

Section 1:

The Town Board of the Town of Vienna here by creates the position of elected tax collector, for the sole purpose of collection Real Property taxes in the town. After the office is established, as provided by law, Real Property taxes shall be collected by such officer and not by the Town Clerk

Section 2:

Providing this law is passed through mandatory referendum, this position will be elected to a two year term, beginning January 1, 2017.

Section 3:

This local law shall be submitted to a mandatory referendum on the ballot for the general elections to be held on November 8, 2016, in accordance with Section 23 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.

Section 4:

This local law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State following the election, as provided in Section 3 of this local law:

BE IT ENACTED this 12th day of May, 2016, by the Town Board of the Town of Vienna, Oneida County, New York.

I hereby certify that the local law annexed hereto, designated as Local Law No. 1 of 2016 of the Town of Vienna was duly passed by the Town Board on May 12, 2016. Such local law was submitted to the people by reason of mandatory referendum, and received the affirmative vote of a majority of the electors voting thereon at an election held on November 8, 2016, in accordance with the applicable provisions of law.
